For those of you who enjoyed reading my pieces, I'm happy to inform you I'll be writing more soon. I appologize for my absence, but I spend so much of my time practicing and recording music that I don't have gobs of time kicking around (is that a mixed metaphor?) for much else. I promise to put time in on the weekends though to write more epinions, since I really do love this site and I have a lot of respect for the company itself, for providing this kind of forum for the general public, but also for being responsible by sharing the wealth. I'm currently mulling over what to review next.
Cheers!
I like to think I am a likable fellow who enjoys the lifelong pursuit of mastering the art of composing music. I also enjoy learning about the infinite cultural richness of our planet's people and their history. My other interests include walks in the overwhelmingly beautiful Oregon contryside, discussing more or less constructive topics with anyone who has something to contribute, and noticing that everything is at least a little bit silly.
My reactions to the other epinions that I've read have varied from pleased and inspired to amazed that someone may actually be receiving monetary compensation for them. I tend to recommend the reveiws with some meat on their bones, that are apparently the result of investigation, reflection, cranial-muscle-excercise, etc.
I also recommend reviews that are written with favorable style and color, even if I don't agree with them (within reason). I don't tend to recommend the kind we've all seen a lot of around here---one exactly 101 word paragraph that could be pared down to a phrase something like "Yea...it's pretty cool...so...anyway...". I feel, since there's money involved and people's precious online time ticking away, every epinion should be well crafted and meaningful, as well as reasonably thorough.
I also have to point out that I rarely give five stars, simply because that suggests that there is no room for improvement. Obviously, this is never the case, but some things are just classics, or too ingenious and original to knock down, so they get five. Most things I like get four stars, but if I think it's good with a couple serious reservations, I'll give it three. A number of my reviews sort of fall into the three and a half category, with some swinging one way and others swinging the other.
