I've owned this cd recorder for nearly three years and I have not had any problems with it. I've burned (recorded)nearly a hundred cd's and they all came out great except for the times when I made some kind of mistake while recording.
Pros: Cheap, high quality recording Cons: Semi-slow finalize process
I've had my Pioneer recorder for well over a year, I bought it when they first came out. I paid $499 for it but prices continue to drop. If you have a lot of CDs (like me) this is a great tool. I use mine primarily to compile multiple CDs onto a single...
Pros: You can set your own sound level, (fader) Cons: Only one CD tray. Must use separate CD to record CD to CD
I bought the Pioneer PD-R555RW CD recorder because it has the ability to fade-in and fade-out while recording songs. I had looked at the Dual tray Phillips but apparently it automatically sets the recording level as there are no controls to change it....
Pros: Works great and we got it on sale. Six years later still works great!! Cons: Price of the blank Audio CD-R's is higher so watch for sales.

I read these reviews a lot to help me decide what to buy, so this is my contribution to help others. I compared a lot of brands and models in my search for a good value CD recorder to make CDs from some the 350 old records I've been hanging on to for...
Pros: ability to record you cd's with ease Cons: takes a few tries to get the hang of it
The Pioneer PD-R555RW compact disc recorder was the greatest of this Christmas' presents. In the one short month I have owned it, I have recorded close to 20 cd's which I did not previously own. My friends and family have also got a lot of use out of...

An overall "Good Quality" consumer CD recorder. by masterarchive ,Dec 17 '04
Pros: Solid built quality, reads poor quality media. Cons: No Digital Record Level, not compatible (Rec.) with Professional media.
I bought this recorder back in 1998 when it first came out
(a hefty price tag). My purpose was to transfer vinyl to CD for re-mastering. What prompted me to purchase this was the "Recording" level control for fading out after recording. After a while, I've realize how good of quality this machine really was and started to appreciate it more and more. This machine works very well in conjunction with a professional unit (Marantz CDR631) that I mainly use for mastering and archive. Its got no problem reading poor quality discs either, where I can immediately transfer it to higher grade discs with my pro unit.
