Pursuing the purchase of 2 Seagate (ST3400601U2-RK) 400 GB External Hard Drives, I discovered that the J&R Music and Computer World Online Site were going to be my best option. J&R sells a lot of products that you can find in other locations that include video games, movies, CD’s, cell phones, and computer components, but they also seem to sell some things at a cheaper price on their site than some other online sources do. That "cheaper price" was what drove me to www.jr.com the first time, and it could bring me back if I am in the market for any other Seagate products in the near future.
The site itself is very good at describing what you are purchasing, and what the capabilities of your product will end up being. They do this with descriptive details, vivid photos of the product, and explanations about what your components or tech devices are going to do for you. Searching through the site was relatively easy using the search window and tabs at the top, but I question the speed with which the pages load. It seemed to take a little longer than I would like on my quick work computer, and led to slight frustration. That aside, the site was easy to navigate, and I was able to find what I was looking for relatively quick.
On each product you get to see a list price, and then the price that they are selling it, with your savings noted in red. This can be helpful if you are looking for something marked down a lot from its set price, and in the world of computer components this can be very helpful. The selection that I made was like many others that I saw, in that there would be no shipping charges added to the purchase. With no additional fees, taxes, or shipping added to my purchase it totaled out to $319.98. A confirmation e-mail let me know that it would be shipped in 4 to 5 business days, and that the delivery estimate was 1 to 6 business days after shipping. They offer some upgrades on the shipping if you need something right away, but I am a sucker for free shipping every time.
The product arrived in perfect condition, but it did arrive several days after the last day of its estimate. I didn't need the drives immediately, so this was something I could overlook, but not something that I will soon forget. They do send out an e-mail that contains UPS tracking if you want to monitor the progress of your package, and it does help if you are in a hurry to receive a product. When everything was said and done, I was satisfied with my experience using JR.com, and I think that I would go back to them for future orders. Free shipping, good customer service (e-mails), and good prices lead me to recommend the site.
