| gwog's Full Review: Maytag Neptune MAH4000 Front Loader Washer |
Great washer and dryer set. The tub holds a ton of clothes, and gently tumble cleans them. Stainless steel too.
I love the ATC (automatic temperature control). Our cold water temperature here is very cold, and so detergent didn't dissolve, and thus I rarely used cold wash with my top loader. Now, I use cold wash a lot more, as the temp is adjusted to 70 degrees or so. A real nice feature for getting clothes clean, saving money, and being gentler on clothes.
I love the large opening. It is easy to get into the drum and get clothes out. Plus, you can wash a ton of clothes.
My washer has the new door with vents at the top, and has the new gasket, with a hole in the bottom and holes in the tub ring to allow water to drain better. I don't expect to have mildew problems like some had. Even if you do, Maytag should retrofit it if you call and complain. Besides, I always wipe the gasket with a rag just to be sure. Preventive maintainance on such a high quality machine only makes sense.
I love the extra rinse feature. I always use it, as I don't think any washer rinses out detergent enough. Don't pile in a ton of detergent either. Use HE stuff, or 1/3 to 1/2 of the regular stuff. Suds are the enemy of front loaders. HE detergent is not necessary, but is marketed for folks who can't get their heads around using less of regular detergent. They clean the same. Less detergent is needed, because you use about half the amount of water.
Less water makes one feel better too. Cheaper in the long run and better for our world.
Nice chime to indicate that the cycle is done. Plus, the washer is so quiet, you will find yourself checking to see if it is working at times. Cool jet engine like noise on the spin cycles.
I love the auto dispensers for soap, bleach and softener. Really handy to use. Put them in, set it, and forget it!!
The max extract powers out up to 50% of the water from clothes, which is above what a top loader does. My drying times are greatly reduced.
Wife loves it, although I have been doing the wash since we got it. You can't go wrong with this unit.
