Site's easy to navigate but too many options. Delivery slower than I would have liked.

With my daughter going away to school she needed a Notebook and Dell was a source her school recommended.
We went to Dell's on-line service and started shopping. We were first linked to the consumer section of the site. It's there that we were at first overwhelmed. There are many, many different systems, set-ups, and saving discounts. Fortunately we had a few particular portable PCs that were recommended by her school. We priced the couple of recommended items that were easy to compare on the site. We made a decision and clicked away.
We decided on the Inspiron 2200 Intel® Celeron® M Processor 360 (1.40 GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB), Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition and added it to the cart. At this point we were brought to a page that broke down the information showing the item we purchased, the savings and the free printer that came with the notebook.
To find out estimated shipping and taxes there was an icon to click on. Another window opens asking for the delivery destination. With that are different options for delivery, next day, second day, 3-5 day. We opted for the latter that was an $51 charge that was supposedly discounted by $8.00. The window returned with all the prices, shipping and taxes included.
The special discounts were all automatically taken.
Now we had a choice of "See Great Add-Ons" or "Checkout". Hey, we were finished shopping and clicked to check out. Now I had to fill in names and delivery destination. If you have not created an account with them, this is when they will ask you to do so. It's an easy process that takes a couple of minutes.
Method of payment then comes up. They accept Amex, Master, Visa and Discover. They also offer the Dell Preferred Account where you pay on time. I don't know much about it and didn't need to find out.
After sealing the deal with Credit Card information the sale was finalized. I could print a copy and I also received an immediate Email acknowledging that the order was received. I liked that they kept me notified each step of the way. Once the information was all confirmed I received an order confirmation. A few days later I received another Email saying the order was shipped.
After I signed and received delivery another email came through verifying that fact too.
We received the notepad in six days. The printer came separately two days later. I was surprised that they would ship separately. Maybe they are out of different distribution centers. I didn't pay attention to the return addresses.
The packages were both well protected and the items came out in pristine shape.
Final Thoughts
This was my first purchase through this site. The registration took no time at all. I found too much information on portable PCs. Do your homework. There is a lot to shop. The process for ordering was easy enough and it was good to see the add-on page. We were also offered a contract near the end of the shopping.
I liked that we received emails letting us know where we were in the transaction at any moment. The delivery was on time but I would have liked to have had delivery a couple of days earlier. We were anxious to get the new product. I was promised the items in 3-5 days. It took six days but that wasn't business days.
The packaging and product came in perfect condition. I would use this service again.
