Pros: A true Giant Killer. Very affordable. One of the best values in high end audio.
Cons: Cheap construction. Poor connections for speakers.
The Bottom Line: The best audio product that I've encountered in over 30 years of esoteric audio. I own two.

| harveyny's Full Review: Sonic Impact Technologies (5066) Amplifier |
This is probably one of the most absurd reviews that I have ever written. I have owned or have listened to some of the most exotic audio equipment available. I have not been as impressed with an audio equipment as I have been with this little amplifier.
This product should be classified as an integrated amplifier because it comes with a combo on/off switch and volume control. The box which this product comes in claims that this amplifier is rated at 15W, a bit optimistic in my opinion. I think it would be more realistic to rate this at about 6 watts. An old saying in high end audio is that if the first watt does not sound right, why would you want another 199? This amplifier is powered by 8 AA batteries, but you can purchase a AC adapter at Radio Shack that will also do the job. I would recommend the 12V 1500ma model. The dimensions of this amp is 8"X6"X2". The connections available are spring clips for speaker wires and a mini stereo plug for input.
This amplifier will work well for people with efficient speakers or have smaller rooms. I am using this amplifier with speakers rated at 90 db sensitivity.
How can such a cheap amplifier perform this well? I don't know that I could answer this question, but part of the reason is because this amplifier uses technology based on the Tripath TA 2024 chip.
How does this amplifier sound? If you have listened to amplifiers like those from Audio Research, Cary Audio, George Wright Audio, 47 Labs, or BAT you will have an idea of what this amplifier sounds like. It sounds better than the amplifiers from companies like Yamaha, Denon, Sony, Pioneer, etc. I might also add that it sounds better to me than amplifiers from Krell, Mark Levison and other expensive electronics that I have listened to.
This amplifier is so affordable, that no one has a reason not to try it. If you know someone with a system that cost more than $10,000.00, try this amplifier in their system.
One final note, play this amplifier for about 60 hours before you make critical evaluations.
