I have been wanting a new computer for awhile now. The old Compaq that I had before was starting to drive me crazy. Every other day it was having a new problem and I was afraid that it wasnt going to last much longer. My husband kept telling me to order a new computer before mine finally crashed and I didnt have one at all. So I began the search to try and figure out what I wanted or even needed. I felt overwhelmed at the wide selection and wasnt sure what I really needed.
Let me start by saying that these guys are three of the nicest at Epinions: Opinionated3, Vemartin, and Ivplay. I emailed all three of them hoping that maybe at least one would respond to me. Much to my surprise all three of them emailed me back. They all offered valuable advice and were extremely friendly and helpful. While a couple of them thought it would be best for me to have a local computer store build me a computer I didnt feel like that was an option for me since I dont know of any. I didnt want to go to a small store where I didnt know anyone. I felt that I was an easy target to get taken. I did take the advice though as far as what memory I should get, etc.
I have to admit that I was a little worried reading some of the reviews about ordering online. After spending a lot of time at the websites of Dell and Gateway I decided I liked the offers that Dell had the best. When you are ready to buy your new computer check the website and find out what specials they are offering at that time.
When I bought my computer they were offering free shipping on desktop purchases. On the particular model that I purchased they were also offering an upgrade on the hard drive and an upgrade to a flat panel monitor. I felt like I was getting a really good deal. When you go to Dell after choosing the type of computer that you want you can pick what options you want on it. You decide what features you want on your computer. You pick the things that are important to you. The website it very easy to use. It guides you through the process step by step.
You then head to the checkout where you create an account and then put in your payment information. All of this is very easy to do and can be done quickly.

More About My Experience...
I placed my order last Sunday afternoon, May 16, 2004. Within a few minutes I received an email confirmation of my order. It told me how I could check the website within 24 hours for the status of my order. I was hoping to have my new computer by the following weekend. The next day on May 17 I received an email stating that my new computer had been shipped. I was surprised that it was so quick. Then I checked the status of my order the following day and saw there was a UPS tracking number. I clicked on the UPS tracking number and saw that it was set to be delivered that day. I couldnt believe that I was going to have my new computer within 48 hours of ordering it. I was thrilled!
Sure enough on the evening of May 17 the UPS showed up with my order. It was packed in three separate boxes. It told me which box to open first. I got everything out, which was packed very safe and secure. It was carefully put in the box and there was absolutely no damage at all. You will have to sign for your computer so make sure that someone is home when it is set to be delivered. Getting the new computer set up was super easy. I couldnt be happier with the whole process from beginning to end!
