Not a great shopping experience...

I wouldn't call it horrible, but it certainly wasn't an up-to-snuff online shopping experience. Purchased a camera as a gift for Christmas which was in-stock according to the website. Received an email immediately to call and confirm the shipping address; excuse was that it was different from my billing address. Called the number immediately and no one picked up. By the next day, got another confirmation email stating that order needed to be confirmed, that one of the free additions (which I didn't want by the way, but was not given a choice to select or not, it just comes with the Sony camera) was backordered, so it wouldn't be shipping right away (mind you this is in the middle of December already, and I need this thing for Dec. 24), and that if I didn't confirm the order by calling, then it would be canceled in 14 days. I tried calling again, and again, no answer. At this point, I have decided that I no longer want to deal with these people, since I'm shopping online, so I don't have to go to the store or phone anyone. It's not all about the price, it's about the convenience too. So I decided to let the order cancel itself, since I wasn't about to waste time waiting for someone to answer their phone. In 14 days, I get an email confirming that my order HAS SHIPPED! Couldn't believe it, so I resorted to emailing RitzCamera and letting them know that they were supposed to cancel and not ship the order in the 14 days as stated in their email. On the first reply, they sent their standard, we have a great return policy, just mail it back to us, etc. I emailed them again, balking at having to pay for return shipping on something I wasn't even expecting to be shipped to me. On the second reply, I was told me to not accept the package, since I had intended for it to be canceled, but the inconvenience was just a bit of a major pain in the you-know-what. I will give them this, they didn't charge the order till they shipped it, and they credited my account as soon as they received the camera back. (Never mind that FedEx held on to it for 10 days, since they just couldn't believe that my receptionist was telling them the truth when she said I didn't want the order, but that's best saved for another review.)
All in all, a poor performance from RitzCamera by my standards. I won't be shopping with them again, either online or in any of their walk-in store incarnations.
