| sgt_york's Full Review: Cyclone Music Key (128 MB) MP3 Player |
I've had one of these for about a 6 weeks now, and I love it. I was concerned at first, this was Cyclone's first MP3 player, and it was a little cheap for what you got. I half expected a shoddy MP3 player. I couldn't have been more wrong! The sound is great, and quite loud; I can't tolerate full volume, or even anything more than ~75%. It plays WMA's and any bitrate MP3, even ones encoded with VBR. IT has good battery life, I can get maybe 8-10 hours of music from a 750mAh rechargeable. The controls are very intuitive, which is a good thing because the manual is practically worthless. It is pretty configurable through the LCD and control stick interface, it can do most things except make custom playlists. The voice recorder function is quite good; sound quality is high and the mic captures very clearly, even in wind. It's durable as well; I've dropped it a few times, even enough to knock open the battery compartment, but it still works fine. It functions easily as a regular keydrive, I've used it under WindowsXP, 2000, Linux Slackware and Suse. It mounts with no difficulty on the 2.4.22 kernel (if you aren't familiar with Linux, you can ignore that part)
Negatives: The earbuds that come with it are adequate, but could be better. The cover for the USB connector is easy to lose (Mine's gone already). That's about it.
