Because of all the bad reviews I have read here, I *almost* did not conduct any business with Tiger Direct. I figured to give Tiger Direct a fair chance and see what happens. I think it is very important that we as consumers try to be as accurate as possible when it comes to relaying online shopping experiences. There are thousands of places to shop online for computer products and I for 1 do not have the time nor the patience to always try to figure out which ones are good or not (as a consumer who wants to get the most out of his buck, I DO greatly appreciate all the reviews that are written here.)
In my opinion, the layout of the web site is great. The only trouble I had finding what I was looking for was trying to figure out what I wanted. The only other issue I had was trying to make sure what I was getting was new or not. I want nothing but new items. Just a suggestion to Tiger, you may want to come up with a big bold icon to indicate if an item is used, refurbished, 2nd hand, not new or whatever you want to call it. Right now I am assuming (based on a phone conversation with a Tiger rep.) that everything is NEW).
Order Day 1 - I figured out what I wanted to buy from Tiger (again very hesitant because of all the bad reviews I read) but I decided to take the plunge. I found the on-line order process very simple and easy to use. I like the many pay options Tiger provided to choose from. I ended up placing the order with on an on-line personal check (at no extra cost). Within 1 hour Tiger had me a UPS tracking number and said the items have been shipped (UPS Ground) . That was approximately 7 hours ago. I just checked on the UPS web site and my tracking number does not exist in the UPS data bank. Since this is only hours in to my order, I will wait until tomorrow and see what happens.....to be continued.
Order Day 2 - UPS Web Site Confirms tracking number and products are "In Transit". GREAT!.
Order Day 3 - Tracked goodies on UPS web set. All looks good. It has now arrived at the major in-state hub of UPS. GREAT
Order Day 4 - All Items have been received. Everything brand new. All materials well packaged and preserved. The picture of the case on the web site differs a little from what I actually received in that the case actually has fan mount vents on both sides (this is a plus). The case description says the case has '4 screwless case fan mounts' but it actually has only 1 (for the front bottom mount). The right side (as your looking to the front of the case, this is for drive cooling) fan vent accommodates a 80 mm case fan as well as the front case fan screwless fan mount. I had to do a little imaginative mounting to use fan filters for the RH and front case fans. The left and rear case fan vents accommodates 90mm case fans. The "what's in the box" says there are '4 keys for front and side panel locks'. However there are only 2 keys for the front bezel lock. There is a place for a side panel lock to be installed (the padlock type D rings) but there is no lock or keys for it. Despite the error in the picture, the 4 screwless case fan mounts error, and the 4 keys/2locks error, I am greatly pleased with the case and the service I received from Tiger Direct. I could not have asked for better service. The case is an excellent value (Chieftec) for 29.97. In fact is a much better case than some of the more expensive cases I have seen. I strongly recommend this case for any home building looking for a mid-tower case. The supplied "Chieftec" stick-on logo for the front of the case tells me that Chieftec is proud of their product and wants people to know it. Nice touch Chieftec.
My overall opinion of Tiger Direct with this my 1st purchase is that they are here to satisfy customers in order to maintain a good relationship and do what all companies should be doing - taking care of their valued customers.
