| adambuko's Full Review: Apple iMac Indigo (M7669LL/A) Mac Desktop |
My family has been a Mac family since the original in 1984, so when it came to buying a computer for college, the iMac was the first choice, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I have the original Bondi Blue iMac (the last one out of the first shipment to my local CompUSA), and granted, I do feel a little jealous that 3 months after I bought my iMac new and better versions starting appearing, but that's how it goes. But that's ok, because I'm planning to hand this one down to my mom and dad (who still have a now ancient Mac LCII chugging away at home) and buy an iMac DV to take it's place.
First off, this computer is NOT for every one. So all those people complaining that it's not expandable and isn't powerful enough are missing the point - this is a computer designed for the average user who just wants something that works well, is internet savvy, and is easy to maintain. If you're a power user who needs to do heavy graphics work or something of that sort, then the iMac isn't for you - but feast your eyes on the G4 for all those needs. If you're one of those who loves to pick apart your computer and add new components, then the iMac won't have much to offer except for memory additions. But, if you want a computer that is fast, reliable, easy to use and maintain, and just plain good to look at, then this is your machine. And because it's an all-in-one design , it's perfect for the college dorm room where space is tight.
I've had mine for a year and a half, and overall it's a great little computer that's fun and, most importantly, easy to work with. For everything it was designed to do, the iMac is an outstanding product.
