Pros: Quick erase, back space control, speed control... this machine has it all. Cons: Even a great transcription machine cannot make transcription fun.

Pros: Widely available, relatively cheap, and good earphones came with it. Cons: Foot pedal action is NOT smooth, NOT sensitive, and LOUD.
I bought this in an emergency and it was all that was available in retail stores near me. I tried for days to give it a chance, but I never liked the "feel" of it. The foot pedal action is clunky (not smooth). I usually transcribe using minimal foot ...

Not so good
by chrisk0201 ,Jan 16 '08
Pros: As above Cons: As above
I transcribe office notes for doctors' offices. For some reason, my new 930 Panasonic frequently emits a high-pitched squealing noise. Very hard on the ears. I have to eject the tape or tap the foot pedal several times, sometimes stops it, sometimes not. My previous transcriber, same model, worked fine until I wore it out. I will be contacting the company although I bought it in July and did not use it until my old one developed problems so don't know what they'll do for me.

Worked well for my needs
by pandygirl ,Jul 24 '08
Pros: For the price and my needs, it was definitely worth it! Cons: Downfall: Transcribing is still a drag!
I purchased the transcriber to transcribe interviews for my dissertation study. It worked just fine, I've had no problems with it and having the foot pedal is great! The sound quality is good and volume adjustments helpful. It has slow playback and other features that were very easy to learn.

Definitely not for professional transcribers!
by ntranscribe ,Oct 22 '07
Pros: Audio was clear when it wasn't malfunctioning. Cons: Very loud when lifting the foot pedal. Virtually no service from Panasonic.
I too purchased this transcriber as a backup machine. After one month of use, it developed a high pitched, ear piercing screech that would happen intermittently with no warning. They gave me the address of the authorized repair center in my area. When I called, I was told they no longer repair transcribers. A second call to Panasonic resulted in their suggesting I mail the unit to their Texas center where they would replace it with a refurbished machine. I purchased a new machine for full price, and they will give me a refurbished machine, even though mine was still under full warranty. Horrendous service from Panasonic. Luckily my OfficeMax helped me with a replacement. I would NEVER buy another Panasonic product after trying to get service from that company.
